    CAREERS WITH TDI   The Diversity Initiative, Inc. (TDI) is a premier 501 (c) (3) non-profit  that is responsible for connecting job seekers with disabilities to community employment through providing no-fee job readiness assistance, career consulting, on the job training and ongoing employment support services.   An Employment Specialist is responsible for preparing job seekers with disabilities referred by the Florida Division of Vocational Rehabilitation for employment, in addition to identifying, developing, coordinating and monitoring employment opportunities commensurate with the skills, abilities and talents of the individual.  Duties require travel throughout service area, with a balance office and field-based activities.   Duties:   Direct Service:   1. Provide job readiness assistance to consumers referred to TDI Programs, including interview preparation and resume development. 2. Engage and empower job seekers through continuous activities that lead to obtaining employment. 3. Identify challenges to obtaining employment and assist with resolutions & referrals to community resources. 4. Develop and maintain relationships with community employment sources, such as business owners, managers and human resource professionals. 5. Assess employers' needs and assist with modification of job descriptions, restructuring job duties, and/or work-site accommodations to enhance the employability of consumers. 6. Ensure effective relationship development with prospective employers by attending networking events and other community activities. 7. Provide comprehensive support to employed individuals and their workplaces, including but not limited to providing training on the job, assisting with securing reasonable accommodations and coaching to performance feedback.   Case Management:   1. Participate in Individual Career Plan development to identify employment outcomes, job development strategies, and support activities for specific employment service consumers. 2. Conduct screening and evaluation to match employment goals with job opportunities for specific employment service consumers. 3. Coordinate services with case managers to ensure training and support services are appropriately and effectively meeting the needs of the consumer and the employment situation. 4. Inform employers of work incentive programs available to businesses who hire consumers and coordinate essential documentation for the employer. 5. Plan and implement a schedule of follow-up and support services to assist employers and consumers with ongoing employment needs.   Reporting and Record Keeping:   1. Complete and maintain case records and documentation in compliance with agency and regulatory standards. 2. Monitor and record clients' progress through electronic databases to ensure that goals and objectives are met.   Hours:   Business hours are M-F from 8 am-5pm, with some flexibility required to work off hours on occasion to meet urgent needs of individuals served.   Requirements:   Due to our state contract, Employment Specialists must possess:   1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university AND written documentation (resume) of one year of successful experience and employment in counseling, job placement, job coaching, career counseling, recruiting, talent acquisition, human resources, employment staffing, job development or public vocational rehabilitation program   -OR-   Associate Degree from an accredited college or university AND written documentation (resume) of two years of successful experience and employment in counseling, job placement, job coaching, career counseling, recruiting, talent acquisition, human resources, employment staffing, job development or public vocational rehabilitation program   2. Introduction to Supported Employment Certificate (TRN or equivalent)   3. Vehicle Insurance Limits 25/50/25 with Clean Driving Record   4. Valid FL Driver's License and Reliable/Safe Transportation for transporting clients   Applicants must also pass a Level II background check.   Candidates will be considered and scheduled based upon meeting the above criteria.
Compensation
